Introduction

Amidst the rugged and drought-stricken landscape, where life itself was a daily struggle, a small flame of hope was kindled – the flame of knowledge and education. With the noble vision of bringing the light of learning to the  children of the local community, a primary school was established in the village of Birrah in 1938.

The responsibility of shaping the young minds of the village was entrusted to Shri Badal Chandra Shur, a dedicated educationist from Aina Village. With sincerity and devotion, he took up the task of teaching and laid the foundation for what would gradually grow into an important centre of learning.

In 1942, the school was shifted from Birrah to Sadhurdihi , now known as Ramharipur. This marked the beginning of a chapter in its history. Under the loving care, guidance and patronage of Doctor Maharaj (Srimat Swami Maheswaranandaji), the school found renewed strength and direction. In those early days, the institution was extremely modest – a simple structure consisting of two rooms with mud walls and thatched roofs, along with a veranda. Yet, within those humble walls, the dreams of countless young learners began to take shape. Doctor Maharaj’s tireless efforts and unwavering commitment became a driving force behind the school’s growth.  His dedication brought new opportunities for the institution. The visit of School inspector and the appointment of Shri Murulidhar Chottopadhyay as a new teacher infused the school with fresh energy and gave a new impetus to its academic journey.

A significant milestone came in 1942 when four students appeared for the board Examination. Their participation marked an important step forward and paved the way for the school to receive official government recognition. From then on wards, the institution came to be known as Ramharipur Board Primary School.

Thus began the  remarkable journey of a school that grew from humble beginnings, sustained by the dedication of its teachers, the vision of its pioneers and the enduring belief that education could illuminate even the most challenging surroundings. What started as a modest initiative in a drought stricken village gradually became a cherished institution with the upgradation  to a high school in 01-01-1953, carrying forward the light of knowledge from one generation to the next.

Ramharipur Ramakrishna Mission is now a higher secondary school equipped with modern facilities, offering both Science and Arts streams. It is regarded as one of the district’s leading educational institutions. Over the past few years, the school has earned a distinctive place among educational institutions across the state, owing to its consistently impressive academic performance at the secondary level, including the achievement of a state-wide first rank.
